    Area of Science:

    • Medical Physics
    • Radiation Oncology

    Background:

    • Conformation radiotherapy shapes high-dose regions to match prescribed treatment volumes.
    • Accurate dose calculation is crucial for effective conformal radiotherapy planning.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To develop and implement algorithms and software for conformation radiotherapy planning.
    • To validate the accuracy of computed dose distributions against measured data.

    Main Methods:

    • Developed algorithms and software for dose distribution calculation on the Modulex RTP system.
    • Utilized standard beam data (tissue-phantom ratios, off-center ratios) for irregular field calculations.
    • Calculated asymmetric dose profiles at various gantry angles.

    Main Results:

    • Successfully implemented conformation radiotherapy planning software.
    • Computed dose distributions showed agreement within 5% of measured distributions in the high-dose region.
    • The system accurately calculated dose profiles for irregular fields.

    Conclusions:

    • The developed software and algorithms provide accurate dose calculations for conformation radiotherapy.
    • The Modulex RTP system is capable of supporting conformal radiotherapy planning.
    • This advancement facilitates precise radiation delivery in cancer treatment.
