    Summary

This study used starch gel electrophoresis to analyze egg white proteins, hemoglobin, serum proteins, and enzymes in Alectoris rufa. Genetic diversity parameters were calculated and compared with those of the related species Coturnix coturnix japonica.

    Area of Science:

    • Biochemistry
    • Genetics
    • Zoology

    Context:

    • Analysis of protein and enzyme polymorphisms in avian species.
    • Investigation of genetic diversity within and between related species.

    Purpose:

    • To characterize the genetic variation of Alectoris rufa using protein electrophoresis.
    • To compare genetic parameters between Alectoris rufa and Coturnix coturnix japonica.

    Summary:

    • Egg white proteins, hemoglobin, serum proteins, and enzymes from Alectoris rufa were analyzed using starch gel electrophoresis.
    • Key genetic parameters including the mean proportion of polymorphic loci (P), mean number of alleles per locus (A), and mean proportion of heterozygous loci (H) were determined for Alectoris rufa.
    • Comparative analysis of these genetic parameters was performed against the related species, Coturnix coturnix japonica.

    Impact:

    • Provides baseline genetic diversity data for Alectoris rufa.
    • Contributes to understanding evolutionary relationships and population genetics in Galliformes.
    • Establishes a foundation for future conservation genetics studies.
