    Normal chest X-rays occur in 9.6% of chronic diffuse infiltrative lung diseases. Early lung biopsy is crucial for diagnosis and treatment in patients with normal imaging but impaired gas exchange.

    Background:

    • Chronic diffuse infiltrative lung diseases (CDILDs) present diagnostic challenges.
    • Radiographic findings are key in diagnosing lung conditions, but their absence can complicate diagnosis.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the prevalence of normal chest roentgenograms in patients with histologically confirmed CDILDs.
    • To identify common diagnoses and clinical features in patients with CDILDs and normal pre-biopsy chest X-rays.
