    Background:

    • Malignant bone tumors require accurate vascular assessment for treatment planning.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the utility of intra-arterial digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in imaging malignant bone tumors.
    • To compare DSA with conventional arteriography for visualizing tumor blush and venous return.

    Main Methods:

    • Three patients with malignant bone tumors (osteosarcoma, aggressive osteoblastoma) underwent conventional arteriography and DSA.
    • Contrast material concentrations of 200 mg/ml and 300 mg/ml were used for mapping and diagnostic imaging, respectively.

    Main Results:

    • DSA provided improved visualization of tumor blush and atypical venous return compared to conventional angiography.
    • DSA demonstrated reduced peripheral vascular information due to lower spatial resolution.
    • DSA enabled reduction in contrast material volume and concentration.

    Conclusions:

    • Intra-arterial DSA is a valuable tool for preoperative vascular mapping and diagnostic imaging of malignant bone tumors.
    • DSA enhances visualization of tumor vascularity while optimizing contrast material usage.
