    Summary

    Leprosy and allergic contact dermatitis from chromium in cement rarely co-occur. Leprosy did not appear to affect the cell-mediated immune response in this rare case of allergic contact dermatitis.

    Background:

    • Lepromatous leprosy is a severe form of Mycobacterium leprae infection.
    • Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is a T-cell mediated immune response to environmental antigens.
    • Chromium is a common sensitizer in cement, leading to occupational ACD.

    Observation:

    • A male patient presented with both lepromatous leprosy and allergic contact dermatitis.
    • The dermatitis was specifically attributed to chromium in cement.
    • Clinical and biological confirmation of both conditions was established.
