    Background:

    • Acne fulminans is a rare, severe form of acne characterized by sudden onset of inflammatory nodules, ulcers, and systemic symptoms.
    • Myositis, or inflammation of the muscles, can be associated with various systemic conditions but its link to acne fulminans is not well-documented.

    Observation:

    • An 18-year-old male patient presented with acne fulminans.
    • Concurrently, the patient developed acute inflammatory myositis, a condition involving muscle inflammation.

    Findings:

    • This case represents the first reported instance of acute inflammatory myositis occurring in association with acne fulminans.
    • The myositis in this patient demonstrated a favorable response to systemic corticosteroid therapy.

    Implications:

    • The findings suggest a potential, previously unrecognized association between acne fulminans and inflammatory myositis.
    • This highlights the importance of considering systemic inflammatory conditions in patients with severe acne and vice versa.
    • Further research is warranted to explore the underlying mechanisms and prevalence of this association.
