    Background:

    • Addison's disease is an autoimmune disorder affecting the adrenal glands.
    • Monozygous twins discordant for adrenal insufficiency offer a unique model to study genetic and environmental factors in autoimmune diseases.

    Observation:

    • Siblings with Addison's disease exhibited autoantibodies, including antihydroglobulin, antiparietal cell, and cytoplasmic islet cell antibodies.
    • Nonspecific suppressor cell activity was evaluated in its ability to inhibit B cell immunoglobulin biosynthesis, T cell proliferation, and mixed lymphocyte culture responses.

    Findings:

    • Individuals with Addison's disease showed reduced suppressor cell efficiency in inhibiting both B and T cell functions.
    • The unaffected twin also displayed a milder degree of impaired suppressor cell function.
