[Potential for improving the early diagnosis of malignant ovarian tumors]

A retrospective analysis of presented in 1794 case reports of patients with malignant ovarian tumors, observed and treated at four oncological institutions of Belorussia: Research Institute of Oncology and Medical Radiology of the BSSR Ministry of Health, the Gomel, Minsk and Mogilevsk Municipal Oncological Dispensaries since 1965 to 1977, which allowed singling out high risk groups among them. There were found 9 risk groups making 47.3% of the total number of patients. In many of them the development of malignant ovarian tumors might be prevented provided they were subjected to timely dispensary examination and were given an appropriate therapy.
