[Spontaneous rupture of the urinary bladder with misleading uroperitoneum]

The present paper reports on a case of spontaneous rupture of the urinary bladder in an alcoholic who ingested a large amount of alcoholic drinks. The presented a misleading uroperitoneum, without signs of peritoneal irritation and was operated under emergency conditions. There were no urinary disturbances during the first 48 hours after admission. The diagnosis was established prior to surgery owing to association of the abdominal phenomena (pain, abdominal meteorism with intestinal paresis) with urinary signs (haematuria), against a background of alcoholic intoxication, confirmed by cystography, the only method that can reveal with certainty spontaneous rupture of the urinary bladder.
