    Summary

    Candida albicans (C. albicans) yeast proliferation is common in bronchial asthma patients, with significant allergic sensitization observed. C. albicans may also play a role in acute respiratory infections.

    Background:

    • Bronchial asthma is a chronic respiratory condition often influenced by microbial factors.
    • The role of fungal infections, particularly Candida albicans, in asthma pathogenesis requires further investigation.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the prevalence of fungal presence and allergic sensitization in patients with bronchial asthma.
    • To evaluate the diagnostic reliability of mycoserological tests using autologous antigens.
    • To explore the potential role of C. albicans in acute respiratory tract infections.

    Main Methods:

    • Quantitative mycological and bacteriological sputum analysis.
    • Mycoserological and cutaneous allergy testing.

    • Mycoserological tests are effective with autologous antigens, and C. albicans may be involved in acute respiratory infections.
