    Summary

    Transcutaneous electrical neurostimulation (TENS) offered temporary pain relief for some low-back pain patients. However, benefits diminished within two months, and some patients experienced increased pain or unusual sensations.

    Background:

    • Transcutaneous electrical neurostimulation (TENS) is a recognized therapy for acute and chronic pain.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of TENS in patients with nonsurgical functional low-back pain.
    • To assess TENS in patients with postsurgical chronic intractable low-back pain of psychosomatic origin.
    • To validate TENS findings using a saline injection test for functional pain assessment.

    • TENS was applied to 15 patients with nonsurgical functional low-back pain.
