[Sacral epidural anesthesia in the treatment of lumbosacral backache]

The technique for caudal epidural injections in the treatment of low back pain and sciatica are described and the results are reported. In 75 patients treated by epidural injection the results were excellent in 60% and good in 24%. 16% of the patients showed no improvement. After caudal epidural injection the use of antiinflammatory drugs, analgesics and relaxant agents was significantly lower than previously. The method is safe, simple and effective and the cost is low.
