    Summary

    Duodenal ulcer and duodenitis show increased epithelial cell proliferation. This study found no impairment in cell proliferation for duodenal ulcer patients, suggesting active healing processes.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate and quantify epithelial cell proliferation in the duodenum.
    • To compare proliferation rates in normal duodenal tissue versus tissue affected by ulcers or duodenitis.

    • Utilized tritiated thymidine incorporation and autoradiography on duodenal mucosal biopsy samples.
