Background:

Understanding sexual satisfaction requires examining distinct components of sexual encounters.
Previous research has not fully elucidated gender-based preferences for different stages of sexual activity.

Purpose of the Study:

To compare female and male attitudes toward foreplay, sexual intercourse, and afterplay.
To identify significant sex differences in sexual needs and desires.

A voluntary questionnaire was administered to 39 men and 49 women university students.
Participants reported on their attitudes toward foreplay, intercourse, and afterplay.

Main Results:

Women identified foreplay as the most crucial aspect of a sexual encounter, while men prioritized intercourse.
Women desired more time spent on both foreplay and afterplay compared to men.
Significant sex differences were observed in sexual needs and desires.

Conclusions:

Women are more likely than men to report greater enjoyment of foreplay and afterplay over intercourse.
Men are more likely to report greater enjoyment of intercourse.
These findings suggest distinct gender-based preferences influencing sexual experiences and satisfaction.
