    Summary

    Aphthous ulcers in diverted colons can occur without Crohn's disease. This finding suggests that aphthous ulcers in diversion colitis should not prevent colostomy closure.

    • Diversion colitis is an inflammatory condition affecting the excluded segment of the colon.

    • No evidence of Crohn's disease was found in either case, either initially or during follow-up.
