    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy of operative treatment for recalcitrant heel pain.
    • To investigate the role of entrapment neuropathy in heel pain.
    • To describe the surgical technique and anatomical considerations.

    Main Methods:

    • Performed 34 operative cases in 26 patients over 6 years.
    • Conducted isolated neurolysis of the nerve supplying the abductor digiti quinti muscle.
    • Included release of abductor hallucis fascia and management of heel spurs or plantar fascia if entrapping the nerve.

    Main Results:

    • 32 out of 34 operated heels (94%) reported good outcomes.
