    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate how the pattern of hearing loss influences gap detection abilities.
    • To determine if hearing impairment inherently reduces temporal resolution, independent of other factors.

    • Measured minimum detectable gap duration (MDG) in noise for normal-hearing, cochlear-impaired, and simulated-impaired hearing listeners.
    • Varied sound pressure levels and used spectrally shaped masking noise to mimic hearing loss audiograms.
