    Summary

    Argon Laser Trabeculoplasty effectively lowered intraocular pressure (IOP) in glaucoma patients. However, the treatment did not halt the progression of glaucomatous visual field defects observed after the procedure.

    Background:

    • Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness.
    • Glaucomatous visual field defects represent significant optic nerve damage.
    • Argon Laser Trabeculoplasty (ALT) is a common surgical option to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP).

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the effect of ALT on intraocular pressure.
    • To assess the impact of ALT on the progression of glaucomatous visual field defects.
    • To analyze visual field trends before and after ALT treatment.

    Main Methods:

    • A cohort of 15 eyes with diagnosed glaucomatous visual field defects.
    • Computerized perimetry was used for visual field assessment.
