    Summary

    Cytogenetic analysis of critically ill newborns showed no increased chromosomal abnormalities compared to healthy infants. This suggests intensive care itself does not induce genetic damage in neonates.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate whether intensive care for critically ill neonates is associated with increased chromosomal damage.

    • Cytogenetic analysis was performed on 30 critically ill neonates admitted to three neonatal units.
