    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate luteal function following tubal sterilization.
    • To compare luteal function after Pomeroy's technique versus laparoscopic tubal rings.

    • 109 subjects underwent assessment of luteal function.
    • Midluteal endometrial biopsies and basal body temperature charting were used.
    • Serum progesterone levels were measured in a subset of subjects (n=40).

    • A shorter time elapsed since sterilization was significantly associated with luteal defects.
    • No significant difference in luteal defect incidence was found between the two sterilization techniques.
