    Area of Science:

    • Neurosurgery
    • Infectious Diseases

    Background:

    • Bilateral brain abscesses pose a significant neurosurgical challenge.
    • Antibiotic therapy is the primary treatment, but treatment failure necessitates alternative approaches.

    Observation:

    • Two patients with bilateral supratentorial brain abscesses were treated.
    • Preoperative antibiotic treatment was ineffective in both cases.

    Findings:

    • Successful surgical extirpation of both brain abscesses was achieved.
    • Postoperative CT scans confirmed complete removal of the abscesses.

    Implications:

    • Surgical treatment should be considered for bilateral supratentorial brain abscesses, especially after antibiotic failure.
    • This approach may improve outcomes in complex cerebral abscess cases.
