Failure of somatostatin to influence in vitro 35SO4 uptake into cartilage

In an in vitro incubation system, somatostatin in concentrations of 0,2-250 ng/ml failed to influence the uptake of 35SO4 into porcine costal cartilage discs. This applied both to basal 35SO4 uptake (in the absence of serum) or uptake stimulated by 30% pooled normal human serum.
