    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate Eustachian tube function in children with un-operated and operated cleft palates.
    • To compare middle ear function in cleft palate patients with normal controls.
    • To assess the impact of cleft palate repair timing on Eustachian tube function and hearing.

    Main Methods:

    • Impedance audiometry was used to assess three groups: un-operated cleft palate (20), normal controls (28), and operated cleft palate (20).
    • Key parameters analyzed included middle ear pressure, static compliance, acoustic reflex, and tympanometry.
    • Eustachian tube function was evaluated based on these audiometric measures.

    Main Results:

    • Normal Eustachian tube function improves with age, normalizing by 5-6 years.
