[Lipid peroxidation in stress-induced tissue damage in adrenal gland insufficiency]

The authors studied lipid peroxidation in adrenal failure and acute emotional painful stress under total adrenalectomy. Experiments were made on white male rats with the use of a complex of indicators marking the state of lipid peroxidation in blood and tissues (myocardium, periodontium) and indicators of bone tissue mineralization. Adrenal failure activates lipid peroxidation in the tissues under study. Corticosteroid deficiency reduces activation of lipid peroxidation during the stress syndrome and potentiates its demineralization effect.
