    Area of Science:

    • Nephrology
    • Ophthalmology
    • Immunology

    Background:

    • Acute interstitial nephritis (AIN) is a kidney inflammation with various causes.
    • Iridocyclitis, inflammation of the iris and ciliary body, can occur with systemic conditions.
    • The co-occurrence of AIN and iridocyclitis suggests a potential distinct clinical syndrome.

    Observation:

    • A case of AIN with iridocyclitis of unknown etiology is presented.
    • This case exhibited unique characteristics, including liver involvement.
    • Immunomorphological findings differed from those previously reported in similar cases.

    Findings:

    • The described case supports the differentiation of an

    Implications:

    • This case highlights the importance of recognizing the "interstitial nephritis-iridocyclitis" syndrome.
    • Further research into the pathogenetic mechanisms is warranted.
    • Corticosteroid therapy appears to be a promising treatment option, inducing considerable improvement.
