[Morphological study of the muscle of Treitz (m. suspensorius duodeni)]
Abstract:
The differences of opinion concerning the morphology of the human suspensory muscle of the duodenum conducted the authors to perform a study upon 31 cadavers including 21 adults and 10 foetuses. In most cases they describe a single muscle arising from the duodeno-jejunal flexure and reaching the right side of the diaphragm oesophageal opening. Microscopic examination confirms that it consists of unstriped muscle fibers except cranially near from his diaphragmatic insertion where striped muscle fibers can be observed.
