Renal cell neoplasms. Their relationship to arteriolonephrosclerosis

Abstract:
In retrospective study evaluating the relationship between arteriolonephrosclerosis and renal cortical tumors, renal epithelial tumors were found more often in kidneys with moderate and marked arteriolonephrosclerosis (40%) than in kidneys without or with minimal arteriolonephrosclerosis (8%). This association was found in patients both older and younger than 60 years. The development of renal epithelial tumors is associated with renal scarring; they are not independent age-related phenomena.
