    Patients with subacute thyroiditis (SAT) and hyperthyroidism exhibit reduced K lymphocytes. Their sera inhibit normal K-cells, suggesting a circulating factor contributing to immune dysfunction in these conditions.

    • To assess peripheral K lymphocyte levels and serum effects on K-cells in patients.

    • K lymphocyte percentages were significantly lower in acute SAT and hyperthyroidism patients compared to normal controls.
    • Sera from SAT and hyperthyroidism patients markedly inhibited K-cells in normal lymphocytes, more so in the acute phase of SAT.
