Abstract:
The nurse practitioner caring for the couple requesting artificial insemination is able to provide comprehensive care as a teacher, counselor, and technician. An artificial insemination program is described, in which the nurse practitioner assesses the couple's emotional status relative to infertility, counsels them if indicated, describes the legal ramifications of the procedure, performs the insemination, and assists in interviewing donors for the program.
