    Background:

    • Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune disorder affecting exocrine glands.
    • Diagnosis of SS, particularly its pulmonary and salivary gland involvement, can be challenging.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the utility of gallium-67 scintigraphy in detecting SS-related organ involvement.
    • To assess gallium-67 uptake in salivary and pulmonary tissues in patients with primary and secondary SS.

    Main Methods:

    • Gallium-67 scans were performed on 12 patients diagnosed with primary or secondary SS.
    • Salivary gland and pulmonary uptake of gallium-67 were analyzed.
    • Clinical symptoms like dyspnea and chest radiograph findings were correlated.

    Main Results:

    • Four of five patients with primary SS showed gallium-67 uptake in salivary glands.
    • Pulmonary gallium-67 uptake was observed in 10 out of 12 patients.
    • Chest radiographs were largely normal despite significant patient-reported dyspnea.

    Conclusions:

    • Gallium-67 scintigraphy appears to be a sensitive, noninvasive tool for identifying lung and mediastinal involvement in SS.
    • The scan may also aid in diagnosing salivary gland involvement in primary SS.
    • This imaging technique could improve early detection and management of SS complications.
