    Summary

Two young patients with fractured incisors received pulpotomies. Both treatments showed similar results, but calcium hydroxide dressing led to significantly more dentin bridging in pediatric dental trauma.

    Area of Science:

    • Pediatric Dentistry
    • Dental Trauma Management
    • Regenerative Endodontics

    Background:

    • Fractured maxillary incisors in young patients require effective treatment to preserve tooth vitality.
    • Pulpotomy is a common vital pulp therapy procedure for immature permanent teeth with pulp exposure.

    Observation:

    • Two pediatric cases of fractured maxillary incisors underwent pulpotomy.
    • One patient received a calcium hydroxide dressing, while the other was treated with zinc oxide-eugenol paste.

    Findings:

    • Both pulpotomy treatments yielded comparable clinical and histologic outcomes.
    • Teeth treated with calcium hydroxide demonstrated significantly enhanced dentin bridging compared to zinc oxide-eugenol.

    Implications:

    • Calcium hydroxide may promote superior dentin regeneration in pulpotomy for immature teeth with dental trauma.
    • These findings support evidence-based treatment choices for pediatric dental injuries.
    • Further research can explore long-term outcomes of different pulpotomy dressings.
