[Stenosis of the external ear canal due to meniscus intrusion]

The authors, maxillo-facial and ENT surgeons, present a unique case of hearing impairment due to external meatus obstruction, occurring at mandibular occlusion. On the contrary, a dimple of the anterior wall was noted at opening of the mouth, with recovery of the hearing impairment. The external meatus returned to normal after resection of posterior mandibular disc protrusion, combined with interposition of a cartilaginous homograft. Etiology of this condition is unknown and a search through the literature revealed no similar observation.
