    Background:

    • Cardiac sympathetic afferent nerves initiate reflexes, primarily spinal cardiocardiac reflexes.
    • The role of spinal pathways in thoracic and lumbar sympathetic excitation from cardiac afferent stimulation is unclear.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the contribution of spinal pathways to cardiac, splenic, and renal sympathetic responses following cardiac sympathetic afferent nerve stimulation.
    • To compare reflex responses before and after cervical spinal cord transection.

    Main Methods:

    • Experiments were conducted on anesthetized, vagotomized, sinoaortic-denervated cats.
    • Electrical stimulation and bradykinin application were used to activate afferent cardiac sympathetic nerves.
    • Sympathetic nerve activity was recorded before and after cervical spinal cord transection.
