    Background:

    • Acute retinal necrosis is a severe intraocular inflammatory condition.
    • Characterized by peripheral retinal lesions, vasculitis, and uveitis.
    • Often leads to poor visual outcomes.

    Observation:

    • Four new cases of acute retinal necrosis with acute uveitis and retinal obliterative vasculitis are presented.
    • Confluent yellow-white lesions in the peripheral fundus preceded retinal detachment.
    • Clinical course was rapidly progressive.

    Findings:

    • Prognosis remained poor despite various treatment modalities.
    • No systemic abnormalities were identified in the reported cases.
    • Review of 44 total cases supports that acute retinal necrosis and Kirisawa's uveitis are clinically indistinguishable.

    Implications:

    • These findings suggest a unified clinical entity for acute retinal necrosis and Kirisawa's uveitis.
    • Further research into the etiology and optimal treatment strategies is warranted.
    • Highlights the aggressive nature and poor prognosis of this condition.
