    Purpose of the Study:

    • Female psychology and nursing students (n=93) completed the Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT).
    • Participants reported their menstrual cycle phase post-testing.

    • Psychology students showed significantly more errors on the GEFT during cycle days 11-17 compared to other phases.
    • This pattern was not observed in student nurses, regardless of oral contraceptive use.
    • Performance differences were not explained by estrogen-induced impairments in inhibition-based disembedding.

    • Beliefs about menstrual cycle effects may influence motivation and cognitive performance.
    • Perceived disadvantages during certain cycle phases might enhance effort and improve performance.
