    Area of Science:

    • Psychiatry
    • Forensic Psychology

    Background:

    • Erotomania is traditionally viewed as a female disorder in Anglophonic countries.
    • French literature acknowledges male erotomania but considers it rare.

    Observation:

    • A study of violent male offenders found erotomania to be relatively common.
    • Offending behavior was consistently linked to the core symptom of erotomania.

    Findings:

    • Four cases illustrate low aggression levels directly correlated with the conviction of being loved.
    • Male erotomania can be considered a variant of major functional psychoses.

    Implications:

    • Treating male erotomania as a distinct syndrome, similar to morbid jealousy, may aid in behavior prediction and management.
    • This perspective offers practical advantages for clinical practice and forensic assessment.
