[Role of hypothalamic dopamine in blood pressure regulation]
Abstract:
Central dopamine is involved in the control of endocrine and autonomic nervous function. Dopamine has a central hypotensive effect which can be reproduced by the administration of dopaminergic agonists which cross the blood-brain barrier. These compounds could be useful in the treatment of hypertension as hypothalamic dopaminergic dysfunction has recently been suggested in these patients.
