    Area of Science:

    • Oncology
    • Surgical Oncology
    • Maxillofacial Surgery

    Background:

    • Osteosarcoma of the upper jaw is a rare and aggressive malignancy.
    • Optimal treatment strategies require careful consideration of surgical and adjuvant therapies.

    Observation:

    • This study presents 8 cases of upper jaw osteosarcoma from a personal series.
    • Four patients remain alive and well between 6 months and 11 years post-treatment.

    Findings:

    • The study advocates for initial radical surgical resection, specifically maxillectomy with orbital exenteration.
    • Routine postoperative Adriamycin therapy is recommended due to its established efficacy against sarcomas.

    Implications:

    • These findings support aggressive surgical management for upper jaw osteosarcoma.
    • The integration of Adriamycin may enhance survival rates and palliate advanced disease.
