    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the correlation between urinary norepinephrine levels and psychological stress in post-myocardial infarction (MI) patients.
    • To compare stress-norepinephrine relationships between post-MI patients and healthy controls.
    • To identify predictors of norepinephrine levels in the context of stress and life changes.

    Main Methods:

    • Assessed urinary norepinephrine levels in 21 post-MI patients and 27 healthy controls.
    • Administered a 57-item stress questionnaire to assess life changes and present stress.
    • Correlated norepinephrine levels with stress variables, anxiety, depression, and standard cardiovascular risk factors.
