Summary

Growth rates and thyroid hormone levels in chickens reveal that selected broiler lines are heavier and have lower 3,5,3'-triiodothyronine (T3) than nonselected lines. Dwarf lines exhibit lower T3 and higher thyroxine (T4), suggesting reduced T4 deiodination.
