The use of Soviet psychological theory in understanding learning dysfunctions
The American Journal of Orthopsychiatry
|October 1, 1983
Abstract:
Learning disabilities have been formally defined as problems caused by inherent neurological dysfunctions. This paper argues that this prevalent interpretation is reductionist, unproven, and fails to provide a theoretical basis for the understanding of these problems. Drawing upon learning theory of Soviet psychologists, this paper offers an alternative interpretation in which learning disabilities are seen as developing within interactive social relationships.
