Anomalous inferior vena cava with idiopathic thrombosis simulating a mass

The author presents a case of a mass seen on computed tomography. Initial appearance suggested a tumor but, because of the overlap of the vascular anatomy, the benign nature of the anomalous vessel could not be assured. Surgical intervention was, therefore, necessary.
