Summary

This case study shows conservative treatment for volar transscaphoid perilunar wrist dislocation. It achieved good wrist function and scaphoid bone healing without avascular necrosis.

Background:

Volar transscaphoid perilunar dislocation is a severe wrist injury.
Understanding the optimal treatment strategy is crucial for patient outcomes.
Hyperflexion injuries can compromise the scaphoid's vascular supply.

Observation:

A case of volar transscaphoid perilunar dislocation was treated conservatively.
The patient was followed for six months post-treatment.
Assessment included radiographic union and functional evaluation.

Findings:

Conservative management led to successful union of the scaphoid bone.
No evidence of avascular necrosis was observed in the scaphoid.
The patient achieved a good functional result with the non-operative approach.

Implications:

Conservative treatment may be a viable option for volar transscaphoid dislocations.
Preservation of the scaphoid's vascular supply supports a non-operative strategy.
This approach could lead to favorable functional outcomes in similar wrist injuries.
