Abstract:
On a department for acute surgery 175 patients, older than 64 years of age, who had an accident at home, were reviewed to determine which injuries occurred. Of the patients 76% were female. More than half of the injuries were fractures, of which wrist and hip injuries occurred most frequently. Soft tissue injuries (wounds and bruises) occurred predominantly in males.
