[Single or shared responsibility in the use of iodinated x-ray contrast media]

The problems of responsibility in the use of iodinated x-ray contrast media are discussed while weighting the pros and cons from the medical and legal viewpoints. The need for "extreme elucidation" of the patient to obtain his consent, as demanded by the Federal German Supreme Court in a recent decision, should be reconsidered.
