    Background:

    • Chronic renal insufficiency (CRI) is frequently associated with endocrine and sexual disorders.
    • Hyperprolactinemia and gonad dysfunction are commonly reported in patients with CRI.
    • Understanding the endocrine state in CRI is crucial for managing associated complications.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To determine the endocrine state, specifically prolactin levels, in patients with chronic renal insufficiency.
    • To investigate the prevalence and significance of hyperprolactinemia in CRI patients.
    • To compare prolactin levels in CRI patients with a healthy control group.

    Main Methods:

    • Serum prolactin levels were measured in 47 patients (18 females, 29 males) with chronic renal insufficiency.
    • Prolactin levels were also measured in a control group of 22 healthy subjects (10 females, 12 males).
    • Statistical analysis was performed to compare prolactin levels between the patient and control groups (p < 0.01).
