Prediction of the date of delivery during late pregnancy

In 217 patients with unknown gestational age prediction by echographic demonstration of the upper tibial and the lower femoral centre has been compared with the biparietal diameter. Echographic demonstration of epiphyses in the fetal knee area have made it possible to obtain at the end of the pregnancy again more exact values. Particularly favourable results are achieved in the presence of tibial epiphysis, whereby the prediction of term shows a mean deviation of +/- 7.8 days, and a standard deviation of 10.6 days.
