[Antibiotic prophylaxis in orthopedics with special reference to spinal operations]

We report about our experience was the perioperative prophylaxis with antibiotics. We use a prophylaxis only in operations of the spinal column. In our opinion the prevention with antibiotics in other orthopaedic operations is not necessary. As an example we show our hip arthroplasties with a rate of infection under 0,5 percent.
