Abstract:
Protein analyses from head and body revealed changes in content and electrophoretic banding pattern during aging of the banana fruitfly, Zaprionus paravittiger. Total protein content of head and body increased during the first 13 days of post-emergent life, followed by decline with advancing age. Electrophoretic studies indicate that certain proteins present in newly emerged flies disappeared with the advancing age while a few specific proteins appear and accumulate as the total protein content decreases during post-reproductive period.
