    Area of Science:

    • Anesthesiology
    • Pharmacology
    • Critical Care Medicine

    Background:

    • Neuromuscular blockade is essential in critical care.
    • Non-depolarizing agents are commonly used.
    • Assessing safety and efficacy in vulnerable populations is crucial.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of atracurium.
    • To assess its use in severely ill and elderly patients.
    • To determine its impact on cardiovascular stability.

    Main Methods:

    • Atracurium was administered to 25 severely ill patients.
    • Clinical observations focused on operating conditions.
    • Cardiovascular parameters were monitored.

    Main Results:

    • Atracurium produced effective neuromuscular blockade.
    • Operating conditions were reported as good.
    • No adverse effects on the cardiovascular system were observed.

    Conclusions:

    • Atracurium is a safe and effective non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent.
    • It is well-suited for severely ill and elderly patients.
    • Its use is associated with cardiovascular stability.
